Bi-Weekly Meetings
Engaging and inspiring women involved in all professional fields meet every other Tuesday from 7:30 pm to 8:30 pm for multiple interactive meetings aimed at creating organizational unity and fostering member interaction.
Company Tours
Once a semester, the executive board arranges for a group of Women in Leadership Members to visit a local company's office, such as Quicken Loans in Detroit and Owens-Illinois in Perrysburg, for activities like a general overview of the company, building tours, alumni/women panels, and hands-on experiences.
Social Events
We aim for two or more events per semester to unite the women in our organization beyond classroom settings, including a holiday party in the Fall Semester and a banquet event in the Spring Semester. Additional activities have included Zumba, Cycling, Yoga, Self Defense, Coffee Socials, Ice Skating, Date Parties, and more.
Community Service
As a large organization, we strive to contribute to the community whenever possible, with each member required to participate in at least one community service event. In the 2019-2020 school year, we handmade over 60 tie blankets for a local hospice center in Toledo, Ohio, raised $675 for Awakening Minds Art in Findlay, Ohio, and provided desserts for their 9th Annual Art Auction. Additionally, from 2019 to 2022, we engaged in a Pen-Pal program with third graders at Kenwood Elementary, where students are paired with a WBL members to exchange letters throughout the semester.
Mentorship Program
Since its start in the spring semester of 2014, our organization's Mentorship program has aimed to improve the pairings of students and professionals while enhancing its impact. Over the years, the program has grown steadily, and we continually seek ways to improve communication and increase value for all participants. We acknowledge the importance of genuine mentorship and sponsorship in shaping the success and growth of young, aspiring business professionals.
YWIL Conference
The annual Young Women in Business Leadership Conference is a campus-wide event that furthers female empowerment and brings awareness to important issues regarding diversity, equity and inclusion. Attendees have the opportunity to learn from several accomplished leaders and network with local businesses.
With the generosity of multiple outside organizations, Women In Business Leadership awards several scholarships to dedicated members who have shown strong leadership and involvement outside of the classroom.
With a keynote, interactive, and panel speakers, the conference allows attendees to learn a variety of topics through various discussions and activities. These speakers come from different professional fields, and each have their own unique story to convey.
Galentines Gala
The Galentine's Gala is a newer fundraising event put on by the Women in Business Leadership to raise funds for the Paige Redlin Empowerment Scholarship. A pioneer within the organization, Paige was an inspiration to both members and non-members alike. Having lost her battle to leukemia in June 2021, the scholarship in her name exists to empower and uplift other business students, as she had done so many times before.
